Living in Style - A new residence for some very lucky New York birds!

This new house is made entirely out of DuPont Corian® solid surfacing, but it's for the birds...literally. Handcrafted by Luigi Bertoia (a New York resident), Luigi is an uncle of one of our local Folsom architects and spared no expense for the other residents in his neighborhood (of the feathered variety).

Thanks Luigi for sharing this inspiring work of art with us!

DIY Network Makeover: DuPont Corian® Rosemary to the Rescue!

DIY Network's program BATHtastic will be featuring one of the beautiful 2009 Private Collection colors, DuPont^TM  Corian® Rosemary. The episode is entitled "Pink Bomb" - alluding to the make over of a bathroom that DIY calls a "nightmare in pink". The show will premiere on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 7:00 pm. It will rerun again at 10:00 pm on the 27th and again on Sunday, August 1 at 8:30 am.

After the premiere, DuPont^TM will share approved images from the program on their Corian® Home Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/corianhome) and you can follow Corian® Home via Twitter (www.twitter.com/corianhome) to get more detailed updates.

Carte Blanche Exhibit

Check out the photos from the opening of the Carte Blanche exhibition held at the DuPont™ Corian® Design Studio in NYC on May 16th 2010.  The opening event was well-attended by a who's who list of internationally-renowned designers, media and members of the A&D community.  Carte Blanche is a travelling exhibition that celebrates the 25th anniversary of Intramuros [magazine], the designers who have been featured on the cover of the magazine and the versatility of DuPont™ Corian®. The exhibition will travel next to Philadelphia during Design Philadelphia opening October 7, 2010.

DuPont^TM Corian® Introduces Eight New "Metallic" Colors

The eight new colors of DuPont^TM Corian® feature a unique design aesthetic that allows designers to achieve visual texture and light play with a solid surface product. The metal flakes in the sheet are at a slight angle to the surface, therefore, the reflectivity of the sheet varies with orientation. This varying appearance is what allows the surface of the countertop (or the edges) to appear lighter or darker depending on the viewing angle of the observer. Realizing the full potential of these surfaces as well as setting realistic expectations for the end user, requires special consideration when designing and fabricating these colors.

This material can be an infinite source of inspiration to designers who wish to create special visual effects such as the integration of logos or decorative patterns [alternating stripes, parquet, checkerboard, spirals, etc...] which can be created by assembling a surface from pieces with varying orientations. The varying orientations of the metallic flakes interact differently with the light and as the observer moves relative to the surface, different aspects of the design with appear and disappear, creating a uniquely dynamic surface.

The Corian® metallic colors (especially Azurite, Bronzite, Copperite, Olivite and Silverite) have the greatest degree of directionality and reflectivity [much stronger than the Lustra Series of Anthracite and Bronze Patina] and we recommend that you contact our Corian® Fabrication Manager to discuss the overall layout of the design along with the desired visual effects, prior to selecting these colors.

In addition to the new Metallics, DuPont^TM Corian® introduces a "bright" idea...a brighter white that is! In response to global requests from leading designers for a cleaner, brighter white, DuPont introduces Designer White. Now you can expand your palette even further with this new "whiter" white.

DuPont Surfaces Launches mySurface App!

For iPhone and iTouch users - there is EXCITING NEWS! DuPont^TM Surfaces has now launched the new mySurface® App, allowing you to browse the entire palette of Corian® and Zodiaq® right from your phone! This FREE Application (download from the iTunes Store - using your iTunes account) provides high-definition, full screen zoomable product color images of all Corian® and Zodiaq® samples (with better resolution than the website). This is a great way to narrow down your color choice prior to ordering up a sample!
